A few years ago Pastor Doyle Roth approached Harvester’s elders, asking them to begin praying about a next generation of leadership that he felt God was leading our church toward. After years of prayer, fasting, and preparations, the Elders feel led to announce and affirm Pastor Nikomas Perez as the next Lead Pastor at Harvester Christian Church. This leadership transition took place April 25th, 2021.

The first question you might have is, “What’s happening to Doyle?!” Don’t worry, Doyle is not retiring and he’s going nowhere! Doyle will continue to work on the Lead Team at Harvester Christian Church, and continue to be a voice on the weekend Teaching team. He will also oversee the ministry staff charged with sending the gospel to our city and world. This includes working with our Troy and Ferguson campuses and our Outreach teams. If you know Doyle, then you know this role is something very close to his heart!

Nikomas and Rachel have 3 kids and celebrate 20 years of marriage this year.  They are no strangers to Harvester. Nikomas served as an intern in 2002. Five years later he joined our staff as the Middle School Pastor. In 2016, Doyle began setting Nikomas up to preach more and oversee more staff teams. In 2019, he became the St. Charles Campus Pastor, giving vision and leadership to our largest campus. Keep up with Nikomas on Facebook and Instagram, or watch message he’s preached on Youtube.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does this mean for the church? Will things change?

While our mission will remain the same, our methods are ever-changing. That’s been true of Harvester in the past, and will continue to be true in the future. Harvester has always been a church that leads people to find and follow Jesus. We’ll always be about that business! But how we do that will always be evaluated and shifted to minister to future generations.

  • What can I do?

The best thing you can do is pray! Pray for Pastor Nikomas and Doyle. Pray over our elders and staff teams. And pray for Harvester! Keep serving, keep giving and keep inviting people to know Jesus. We believe that we are venturing into an exciting period of our church’s story. And Jesus wants to use YOU, not just Nikomas.

  • Still have questions?

If you have questions about the leadership transition, or want to send a note of support, please direct those messages to Nikomas and Doyle’s assistant, Jeni Voss.
